Apple Facts for Kids
  1. Apples are the fruit of apple trees and are one of the most widely grown tree fruit.
  2. There are thousands of different varieties of apples including Fuji, Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady and Granny Smith.
  3. While most apples are eaten fresh, they have other uses including juice making and cooking.
  4. Apples were taken to North America by European settlers.
  5. Honey bees are commonly used to pollinate apple trees.
  6. Apple trees typically blossom in spring with fruit maturing in autumn.
  7. Apples are a fruit.
  8. Apples belong to the "rose" family.
  9. Apples come in almost every shade of red, green and yellow.
  10. The size of apples varies from a little larger than a cherry to as large as a grapefruit.
  11. Most apple blossoms (flowers), are pink when they open, and then gradually fade to white.
