NSPA Week 9 - Day 1

Kindergarten memory phrase: God Made Us WONDERFUL!

First Grade Memory verse:
week9

First grade:

In English today Anabel learned about the blended ‘ar’ and did a big page of reading and writing.
She worked on learning her memory verse by copying it down.
We also learned about lightening and thunder in her science book.
This week is also the week for ‘grocery store’ play in her math part of the day. So while they are outside playing I will be setting up that for them to play.

Kindergarten:

This was the first day of the Uu Us week so Abby was introduced to that sound and letter. She did some tactile work and also wrote u’s in the sand tray on the light table for practice.

She did a geometric block activity.
Made an ‘All About Me’ book

Combined activities:

Human body – Sense of Touch
We went over pages 24-29 of the ‘My First Human Body Book’ which talks about your sense of touch by explaining the roles your brain, nervous system and skin play. They loved the pictures and we went over each thing.

Then I used a feather, bristle brush, cloths pin and a needle so show them the different feelings that different things make on their skin. This was a perfect time to talk about how the brain and nervous system sends messages to each other.
Then we got out the lighted magnifying glass and looked up close at our skin. The hair on our skin, pours, freckles and even Abby’s splinter lol
Then they colored some blank bodies I printed out, to ‘look like them’.

We went over the different bones several times. They had a lot of fun.
