Rr Rocks
We started Rr Rocks today. We had so much fun! A few rocks i bought like these slices shown below. With the slices i placed them on the light table and we examined them. I talked about the designs in them and the lines. Then i asked her to draw them for me.
This is what she drew
Adorable little man chillin out in the school room with us :)
Today i read the story of baby Moses in the basket to her. Then she read a simple version of the story in her bible reader. To end that story they asked her to retell the story in a short form. They wanted her to sound out the words and spell them the best she could on her own. Then i was to help her correctly spell a couple of the words but they said only 1-2 and that not all the smelling had to be correct, as long as you could figure out the story. Above is her story. I brought out our flash cards with the letter combination to help her figure out some the letters like 'au' 'er' and 'ou'. I think she did really good!
Then i had the girls go gather more rocks from our yard. When they came in i had them scrub down the rocks.
Then i got out our scale and the glass gem to do some weighting. They would pick out a rock and place it in one of the scales baskets, then one by one place a glass gem until it was basically level. Then i had them count how many glass gems it took to equal the same weight as the one rock. We took a paper and traced their rock and drew circles to indicate how many glass gems it equaled.
At the end of this activity i laid out the papers on the traced rocks and asked them which one of the three rocks weight the most and then asked which weight the least.
Then we moved on to tower building.
I had them build a tower, count how many rocks they used and then had them draw the tower.
It was a busy day but we all really enjoyed it! Can't wait to do more tomorrow :)
