Jamestown Extended - MFW 2nd Grade

I'm picking and choosing which weeks to extend. This week we are definitely extending the Jamestown unit (week 3 of MFW Adventures in US History). There is so much fun stuff we can add and do!

We have been reading all the History books MFW has us read. The kiddos are loving it. I of course am adding stuff to our map as we go along. Added Jamestown to Virginia and just for the heck of it added a boat too. I ADORE visuals myself and the kids seem to really like it too.

Then we made a Jamestown diorama. LOVE how Anabel colored this, she is starting to use several colors to make it 'more real' she says. I had to do the cutting and gluing of this one, it was a little to hard for her.

Then this week in english her assignment was to look at the picture of cats and come up with three sentences. These were her sentences. I love seeing all the nice printing and correct spelling! Yay!

The english assignment sparked her interest in writing a story of her own. Here is her story:

The next day she colored and cut out (by herself) these Indian longhouses. Then i got out the cowboy and Indian toys so she could set up a scene.

Can't wait to continue this next week!
